William O’Connell

William O'Connell is founder and Managing Director of Wilec (Fire and Security) Ltd. He has over 30 years' experience in the security industry both in Ireland and internationally.

 

William spent 16 years with Maxpro Systems in Australia and worked on a number of high-profile and high-security projects there including installation of Electronic Security systems at Sydney Casino, Argyle Diamond Mines in Western Australia and Shanghai Prison in Singapore.

 

William was relocated to run the UK Division of Maxpro in 1997 managing contracts for the installation of Access Control systems at sites such as Canary Wharf, Sellafield Nuclear Plant, Thorness Nuclear Plant and Kilmarnoch High Security Prison.

 

Returning to Ireland in 2002 William founded Wilec (Fire & Security) Ltd dedicated to the complex, high-end security market including financial & retail institutions, facilities management companies, pharmaceutical companies and other blue-chip organisations.

Jane O’Connell

 Jane has many year’s experience in managerial roles within the security and risk management sectors.

 

As the Company’s HR Manager Jane has developed and implemented HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy and is very proud of the highly skilled and trained work force currently employed with Wilec. 

 

One of her key successes is the fact that all apprentices employed by Wilec have remained working for the company following completion of their apprenticeships and some are now Senior Engineers with many years of technical expertise and training to their credit.

 

Jane’s role with Health & Safety ensures the business is legally compliant with all health and safety legislation.  Wilec is committed to working with and training all employees to manage, monitor and improve health and safety standards in the workplace. Jane is committed to ensuring the Company and its people remain accident / incident free over the coming years of growth.

Michael Rees

Technical Manager

Michael Rees

Michael has been a fundamental member of the Company since 2003 and now manages our Senior Technical team on the most complex of our Customer sites.

Mick is a go-to person and has provided the Senior Management Team with technical support on the sales, installation and commissioning of our largest projects to date i.e.

Electronic Security & Life Safety Systems at the purpose built Hydrogenation Plant, MSD Rathdrum along with site-wide upgrades and maintenance;

  • Large scale Access Control System @ IFSC, Dublin 1;
  • Electronic Security & Life Safety systems at Susquehanna Bank, Dublin 1
  • Electronic Security & Life Safety systems @ new Bristol Myers Squibb Site, Blanchardstown
  • Electronic Security & Life Safety systems @ Dublin Waste to Energy Plant, Dublin 2
  • Electronic Security & Life Safety systems @ Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin 2
  • Fire Alarm upgrade @ Zoetis, Rathdrum

Michael holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and prior to joining Wilec worked in both software & hardware roles within the IT industry.

Michelle Byrne

Michelle joined the Company as our Commercial Manager in 2013 from a similar demanding role in the Retail Industry. 

 

Michelle had also worked for many years as an Area Manager for Allied Irish Bank so she came to us with a wealth of experience in Finance & Audit procedures thereby giving our company a much needed procedural structure/frame work.

 

Michelle is responsible for all the commercial aspects of the company and runs the day to day financial operations with her team of Administrators & Accounts Technicians.

 

Michelle also ensures that Wilec (Fire & Security) remains compliant with all relevant commercial and financial legislation.

 

Within her day to day role Michelle is meticulous about meeting standards and customer expectations and is committed to improving business performance.  She takes pride in ensuring that Wilec's clients receive the best possible service from first point of contact to successful project completion.

 

 

Matthew Crozier

Matthew Crozier

Matthew Crozier

Matthew recently joined our company as Business Development Manager with a view to developing the  Fire Protection (Gas & Water Mist Suppression) section of our business. 

Matthew holds a BEng Aero-Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Strathclyde and a Masters in Building Information Modelling Project Management from Queens University in Belfast.

Matthew has recently successfully overseen the completion of watermist suppression system projects in Amsterdam, Munich and the UK as well as in our Irish customer base.

The creation & development of the fire protection arm of the business significantly strengthens our Life, Safety & Security offering to our existing and new clients.

We look forward to working with Matthew over the coming years to ensure a successful increase in market share in this section of our business.
